She went into the basement and she went through all the records And dug through broken boxes as she wobbled on the floorboards The purr of furry foxes harmonising with the singers The dust got in her eyelids and the splinters in her fingers She found no-one listening In time she'd hear whispering In time, no-one's listening Tonight no-one knows Say goodbye to inhibitions and so long to superstitions Spoke the records in the basement and the sleeves upon the table She heard them sing in Cantonese, she heard them sing in Japanese She listened to the singers with splinters in her fingers Outside no-one listened in Tonight only pound signs in their eyes Do they realise? Will they realise? Outside no-one listened in Tonight only pound signs in their eyes Is she saying her goodbyes? No-one knows

Sometimes when she looks down she sees fireworks Sprouting like her mother's household plants Sometimes when she looks down she sees fireworks Yes she does Sometimes when she looks up she sees pirates Not the violent kind, but chumps like Smee Sometimes when she looks up she sees pirates Yes she does I wonder if she'll wake up and remember Sometimes when she looks down she sees fireworks

Luminous paw prints pepper the sky on the horizon Washed up on the shore, the evening sand began to whiten The sea was Copper Sulphate blue, the records she'd been sifting through were spinning The disco-ball was spherical, her moves were slightly chemical and tipsy Oh yes a twist-necked turtle found his way from Venezuela She greeted his arrival with a parp on her purple Vuvuzela The grass was Nickel Sulphate green, the records she'd been dreaming in were spinning The disco-ball was spherical her grooves were slightly comical and giddy She was the last girl dancing in the midnight rain She turned Canada into Spain like it was nothing But she didn't mean it She found the missing moon rocks with Leo Sayer's Fortune Teller Hidden in her school socks, she divvied them out amongst her friends They boshed the stones to charge their bones, then hummed in teenage dulcet tones in tandem They danced in adolescent glee to a brand new Free Swim EP. How random. She was the last girl dancing in the midnight rain She turned Singapore into Spain like it was nothing But she didn't mean it Singapore, Canada in her brain Singapore, Canada or was it Spain? Singapore, Canada what's in a name? Singapore, Canada OK! She was the last girl dancing in the midnight rain She turned Lebanon into Spain like it was nothing But she didn't mean it She was the last girl dancing in the midnight rain She turned Uruguay into Spain like it was nothing But she didn't mean it

She needs to get herself a little piece of the action She needs to see for herself what goes on Cause no-one really knows what goes on She seems to be part of a chemical reaction Starts to see for herself what goes where Cause no-one really knows who goes there She likes it She needs to get herself a little piece of the action She needs to see for herself what goes on Cause no-one really knows what goes on She seems to be part of a serious distraction Starts to see for herself in her sleep All the things she never thought she'd see And she likes it

A touch on the shoulder, a cup by the bed Is she awake or somewhere else instead? Staring through her feet at vague memories Melodies The strangest of nights, dreaming in lights She'd seen the seasons, the beacons, the skies She'd sung solutions - gold melodies Memories She'd seen a Panda and watched as she climbed She'd seen a man with two hands by her sides She'd seen a bromance - gold mysteries And now she believes in mysteries Out in the ether, in space She fell in love then all over the place Solutions - those old melodies She believes Show her the love songs and the lies Play her the music and all it's goodbyes Sing the solution, her own melody (and now she believes) Show her the love songs and the lies Show her the lost souls and all their goodbyes Sing the solution - it's your own melody
